DMITRI SHOSTAKOVICH Publishers (DSCH) was founded in 1993. It has the exclusive right to the publication of all the works composed by Dmitri Shostakovich and to the hiring of his scores and instrumental parts in the CIS, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Rumania, Bulgaria, the states on the territory of former Yugoslavia, and the Baltic states.

The publishing house aims at making all of Shostakovich’s works available to professional musicians and music-lovers.

The material published by DSCH is based on author’s manuscripts from the composer’s personal archive and other depositories and is accompanied by detailed explanatory articles and erudite textual commentaries in Russian and English. All the mistakes and inaccuracies from previous editions have been corrected. The words for the vocal compositions are given in the Russian original, and are accompanied by a Latin transliteration.

The publishing house gives special attention to publication of the composer’s unknown, forgotten or previously banned compositions. Works in this category that have already been published include Anti-Formalist Rayok, piano scores for the ballets The Golden Age, The Bolt, and The Limpid Stream, as well as the scores and instrumental parts for these ballets, which can also be hired.

DSCH Publishers have put out the following deluxe editions in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the composer’s birth: a photo album called Dmitri Shostakovich: Pages of His Life in Photographs and a facsimile of the author’s manuscript of the score of the Thirteenth Symphony. They have been awarded prizes in the main nominations of Russia’s three most prestigious competitions: the Competition of the Association of Book Publishers of Russia (Prizewinner’s Certificate in the “Publication of the Year” main nomination), the Competition of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communication and of the 20th Moscow International Book Fair (2007 highest competition prize in the main nomination “Book of the Year”), and the Competition of Knizhnoe obozrenie newspaper (prize for the best artistic design—“Bibliophile”). The first publications of the scores of the opera Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District and the ballet The Limpid Stream are among the most important novelties of the past two years.

Since 2006, a new series of publications entitled “Dmitri Shostakovich’s Archive” has been coming out, which features documents from the composer’s creative heritage discovered by researchers.

In 2001 the new revised edition of all Shostakovich’s quartets (score and parts in one format) came out.
