EcoCart - Let's save the planet

EcoCart is a checkbox option you will see when you're checking out after making your purchase selections. There you'll have the opportunity to add a few extra cents to your order to make it carbon neutral.

The team at EcoCart directs the carbon offset funds to certified carbon offset projects like planting trees or building wind farms.

They scour the globe for carbon offset projects that are truly additive (meaning new), permanent, and without unintended consequences (i.e., creating more carbon elsewhere, like a game of Whack-a-Mole). All of our projects are independently certified to internationally recognized standards. In addition to the carbon reduction, we pride ourselves on the fact that all of our projects include an element of social good such as protecting an endangered species of animal, or creating local jobs.

You do NOT have to change your shipping and/or handling choices.

EcoCart's algorithm automatically calculates the cost to offset each specific order, then funds certified carbon offset projects like building wind farms. We take care of everything!

How much will it cost?

Since the algorithm calculates the cost of a carbon neutral order by looking at variables such as the product type, shipping distance, and weight of the order, the cost will be unique for each order. However, the carbon offset amount is under $1.50 around 90% of the time.

How does EcoCart figure out the emissions of each order?

EcoCart's robust algorithm calculates the carbon emissions from both manufacturing and shipping each unique order by looking at variables such as product type, general materials mix of the product, product weight, shipping distance, and more.

How do I know the money is going to the right place?

With your help, we’re finding projects that are truly additive (meaning new), permanent, and without unintended consequences (i.e. creating more carbon elsewhere, like a game of Whack-a-Mole). All of our projects are independently certified to internationally recognized standards.

Every project we fund is triple-verified. Triple-verification means:

  1. The project’s financials, management team, project site, and carbon reduction method are carefully vetted.
  2. One of the world’s major carbon standards reviews the project.
  3. Global Offset Research verifies the project against a second list of international standards.
