Students don’t have to play on poor quality instruments. They should be inspired by the beautiful look & great sound right from the first time they try out their new instrument. If one begins with traditional quality craftsmanship & good quality materials, and then add strings that are flexible & comfortable for young fingers the result is obvious. Shilakowsky violins are set up with higher quality strings than most instruments offered by other rental and retailers.
There currently are still few low-priced, high-quality European instruments on the market, so ShilakowskyArts Music is introducing the Shilakowsky line. We begin with the student's first instrument, the
the first experience should be falling in love.
The Shilakowsky line of instruments is made in Reghin, Romania using aged Carpathian maple and spruce, and features a unique antique oil varnish that is easy to maintain and looks great. This varnish also has a unique quality of resisting denting and scratching which is an unusual quality for a carved wooden musical instrument. This means that an instrument given to a young musician who is still learning how to care for it will still look good when its time to sell or trade it in for a ‘step-up’ instrument. This also means these instruments will hold their original value!
There are four levels to choose from in the Shilakowsky line. With each level the wood quality increases, including more highly flamed maple and tighter grain spruce. These instruments are priced for beginning and intermediate students looking for a better instrument. Even Fractional sizes 7/8 – 1/32 are available.
With a focus on durability and construction quality, the Shilakowsky Allegra, made in Romania, is a great option for a student’s first step-up.
Aged Carpathian spruce and maple and a durable but easy to repair antiqued oil varnish combine to give you an instrument that not only looks and sounds great, but will demand only minimal shop time over the years. When our customers purchase Shilakowsky instruments for their rental programs, they are investing in quality that will be around long after competing instruments have been discarded or sold off.
The Step up, or second level in the Shilakowsky Violins line is

Information links will be available on this page as the varnish dries on the instruments. Please allow 3-5 extra days in additional to shipping for the instruments of the Shilakowsky line. During busy times of year (September-October...beginning of school year, and April-June) there may be additional delays as many orders are filled during those busy times. We thank you for your patience and assure you that you will be happy you waited!
I will be adding the rest of the line as they are crafted in our shop in Romania. Book mark this page and check back here
Coming soon after the violins are done, I'll be adding the Shilakowsky Viole and Shilakowsky Celli, and more great instruments!
